Oman LNG Signs 5 Agreements with Ministry of Social Development

Attesting to its robust commitment to serve the nation, Oman LNG inked five (5) pivotal agreements with the Ministry of Social Development. The agreements encapsulate financing a number of projects and initiatives that are instrumental in touching people’s lives and addressing their needs. The pacts reflect Oman LNG’s pioneering role in Corporate Social Responsibility in the country.

The first agreement will see the company financing the "Solar Energy" initiative, in which the company will fund to supply solar panels to 32 Omani Women’s Association (OWA) buildings across the country. The provision of the solar panels to the OWA do not only contribute to generating energy and conserving electricity consumption; but it encourages the use of renewable energy alternatives in the country, which ultimately contributes to preserving the environment. Through this agreement, the company also aims to support a number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to supply and install these solar panels.

The second agreement involves supporting a leadership and management training programmes for various Omani Women’s Associations. Such programmes will provide training opportunities for 195 women in various fields, including; leadership, innovation, financial management, and in media and technology fields. Through this agreement, the company strives to contribute to empowering the role of women in society and increase the efficiency of the management in various OWA branches.

 

Highlighting the company’s continuous efforts to support the health sector, the third agreement involves financing the "We are with you" campaign, which targets diabetic children from the low-income and social security. Through this agreement, Oman LNG aims to provide blood glucose metres and scales diabetics, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and General Directorates of Health Services in different governorates. The objective of this agreement is not limited to raising awareness on the importance of regular checkups for diabetes but also finding suitable mechanisms to reduce the risks of neglecting observance of high blood sugar levels.

In alignment with the company’s consistent support for people with disabilities, the fourth agreement encapsulates funding the purchase of modern equipment for the Al Noor Association for the Blind in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The equipment includes financing modern audio devices and braille devices to facilitate a better learning environment for visually-impaired students in higher education institutions and simplify the storage of information and conversion of files in braille.

The fifth agreement pertains to the establishment of a pilot project to support livestock breeders in the South Sharqiyah Governorate through the Omani Agricultural Association. This project is predicted to provide latest innovative agricultural procedures, and thus supports the country’s vision of achieving self-sufficiency and reducing the increasing cost of fodder, as the initiate will produce green fodder with high nutritional value at low costs whilst maintaining sustainability.
